        Your child will be operated...

                                        Instructions to follow

to ensure your child’s safety and enable the operation to take place

                                                                                           VERSION 2020

          Hygiene

The day before the surgery or the morning of the surgery

            • Bath or shower with antiseptic soap (as indicated)

                                                 • Wash body, navel,
                              or hair, ears and nails

            • Nail cut short (hands and feet)
            • Clean pajamas

            • Clean clothes

Why? Washing your child gets rid of many of the germs on their skin. All staff in
the operating room also takes a lot of precautions to prevent the spread of germs.

            Before washing the child

            • Remove nail polish (hands and feet).

Why? During the operation, the anesthetist* makes sure your child breathes well
with a device connected to one of their fi ngers or one of their toes, or by watching
the color of his nails. Nail polish prevents this surveillance.

*The anesthetist is the doctor who gives your child the anesthethetic so they are asleep before the operation.
Their full name is Anaesthetist and Reanimation Expert.
